Listed below are the specialities provided at brooklynwellnessMCR.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue massage focuses on alleviating chronic tension in your muscles, fascia and connective tissue. It works through the superficial layers of the muscle and body and goes deeper to effect change. Through a combination of specific techniques and strokes, this will restore tissue to its natural state increasing your mobility and range of motion. Deep tissue does not have to hurt to be effective.
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage increases circulation. It combines long, gliding strokes with kneading and friction to relieve muscle tension. This can be achieved through both light and deep pressure.
Massage for Migraines
Migraines are debilitating and can often put you out of commission for a few days. It often takes trial and error to find a medication that will help and even then medication doesn't always stop the migraine if it's not taken in a certain window of time. If you suffer from migraines, this massage treatment allows us to work together to specifically target the particulars of your migraines. For 6 weeks with specific massage patterns & techniques combined with some lifestyle adjustments from you, we can work together to bring you relief from this pain.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage varies greatly depending on the type of sport and your particular needs. It often combines stretches to increase flexibility, mobility and range of motion. Trigger Point work is also incorporated into problem areas. Different regions of your body may be the focus at different points in your training schedule or to prevent injury. I have worked with a number of marathon runners, cyclists and triathletes. Consistent massage is key to preventing injury as well as for your post-event recovery.
Trigger Point Therapy
My favourite description of a trigger point is a point of exquisite pain. Myofascial trigger points develop from repetitive use or trauma. Your mobility may be limited and your muscles will feel tender. Trigger points can also cause referral pain, which is pain felt in other areas of the body but has radiated from the adhered tissue. Trigger Point Therapy is incorporated into sessions to help alleviate stiffness and pain.
Medical Massage
Medical Massage is specifically tailored to help you with whatever condition you are dealing with. It can be on referral from your physician; it can be post-op work to help keep scar tissue from forming and aid in your recovery; it can be to mitigate effects from an ongoing or lifelong condition. My medical massage experience ranges from recovery from surgery to working with clients with MS and Parkinsons. The benefits are tremendous.
